Deer Project

Cuba Rushford Central School Fisheries and Wildlife Technology Program teaches middle school students about math, science and computer technology through engagement with fish and wildlife research.

The Deer Project is the creation of the Cuba-Rushford Central School's Fisheries and Wildlife Technology Course headed by teacher Scott Jordan.

Students bait, capture, collar and track whitetail deer. The radio collars are picked up by a receiver, specific frequency, and then plotted on topographic maps utilizing a technique known as triangulation.

Weather data is also recorded along with the location of the deer.
