Ohio EPA

The Office administers the Ohio Environmental Education Fund, providing $1 million annually in grants for environmental education projects targeting pre-school through university students and teachers, the general public, and the regulated community. Ohio-based non-profit and for-profit organizations and government agencies are eligible to apply. Application deadlines January and July 15 each year.

The Office also administers an environmental science and engineering scholarship program for students at Ohio colleges and universities, and a grant program to retrofit school buses with pollution controls to reduce students' exposure to diesel exhaust. These programs are funded with civil penalties that Ohio EPA collects for pollution violations. The Office also offers a number of workshops and publications, including the Ohio-specific interactive CD-ROM "Protecting Your Environment;" a planning guide for school land labs, and "Fostering A Sense of Wonder During the Early Childhood Years." Ohio EPA office building is LEED-certified (gold) as a green building with a green roof that may be visited during the summer season.
